From September 11–13, 2024, the Earthqualizer Foundation conducted an intensive training program for PT Harkat Sejahtera on GIS utilization.

This program covered foundational concepts in QGIS, spatial analysis, and the use of spatial tools for conducting thorough risk assessments related to palm oil traceability. Participants applied these techniques through case studies, using their own data to trace Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) from the plantation to collection points and ultimately to the mill.

To improve the traceability of palm oil products, optimizing human resources at the downstream level is essential for accurately tracing and documenting the origin of palm fruits. To support this objective, the Earthqualizer Foundation is dedicated to assisting mills by focusing on enhancing Geographic Information System (GIS) expertise, enabling them to establish comprehensive traceability systems and promote sustainable palm oil practices.

Traceability is a cornerstone of ethical practices in the palm oil industry, supporting environmental protection, regulatory compliance, effective supply chain management, and smallholder inclusion. Earthqualizer hopes that by enhancing the knowledge and capabilities of mills in traceability systems, these efforts will contribute meaningfully to building a more sustainable and responsible palm oil industry.
