Traceability is the linchpin for the transformation of the palm oil industry, facilitating the recognition of product origins and ensuring compliance with national and international certifications and regulations. The complexity of the supply chain, extending from smallholder plantations to palm oil mills, has made tracing the source to the plantation level a formidable challenge. Earthqualizer Foundation and PT Inovasi Digital, with the invaluable support of Unilever, embarked on this training initiative to empower palm oil mills to overcome these challenges.

The primary objective of these training sessions was to empower mills to develop supply chain traceability capabilities and emphasize traceability's critical importance in the palm oil industry market. Over 50 enthusiastic participants from 20 of Unilever's esteemed supplier mills actively engaged in this highly successful training initiative.

The training proposed is to provide mills with the understanding that traceability is a key requirement of the current ubiquitous palm oil markets. During the training, participants gained valuable insights into the vital role traceability plays in the contemporary palm oil industry. The training equipped palm oil mills with the knowledge and tools to establish a traceability system, allowing them to regularly update the source of their fresh fruit bunches (FFB) down to the plantation level that can be updated regularly. On this agenda, besides being given an understanding of the current global pressures of the palm oil industry, participants were also tasked with formulating a comprehensive "100% Traceability to Plantation (TTP)" work plan, which they committed to implementing.

During the sessions, Inovasi Digital utilized #InovasiAgriplot data to illustrate the risk analysis of palm oil suppliers, further emphasizing the importance of traceability in the palm oil market. The ability to trace product origins is crucial not only for supply chain efficiency but also for ensuring adherence to multiple national and international standards and regulations.
